DOMINICAN MOON
Ken Norris
No one else will read that book
the way I do.

I was using again, drinking again,
my guard was down
and all the destructive vulnerabilities
were flooding back.

A little coke, a little rum,
a little slide back
to the lip of the abyss.

Two years of standing there,
then turning away.

It was hard to remember
what a little moonlight can do,
it was hard to forget
everything I needed to forget.

So read that book
and say you don't know me.
I know myself too well.
